Stopped here for a meal with friends. Had a great time. Lovely food and a great atmosphere.
Bit rowdy with some young lads having a good time, but landlady came over twice and told them she would kick them out if they carried on. Its a lovely place, we just popped in for a drink. It is very busy, but open fires were gorgeous!
The pizzas were very tasty, if not a little bit pricey! There was nothing spectacular or interesting about the toppings or pizzas to justify the extreme price. The staff were polite, but I certainly didn't feel like their professionalism lived up to the expectations created by the prices or decor of the restaurant. Talking of decor... some interior design person must have thought it would be a good idea to hang lampshades so low over the table that you couldn't look your dinner companion in the eye without slouching. It's not fun slouching whilst eating stodgy carbs! Also, the pretty cushions on the seat allowed only half a bottom to perch upon the seat - we were able to move the cushions, thankfully! Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done about the lamps, apparently. I won't be rushing back here. It's pretty to look at, but there's not much else that makes me want to spend lots of money for a bit of bread, cheese and veg.
Wonderful traditional village style inn serving beautifully presented food with a modern twist. Excellent choice of menu, beers and wines and 5 star service. Staff very warm and welcoming, a great atmosphere especially near that stunning roaring log fire! Thank you guys for a lovely relaxing lunch.
